Summary: Sakinah is a Quran reading and Islamic lifestyle app. We collect only what is necessary to provide prayer times, reading progress tracking, and AI-assisted Islamic guidance. We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. Your Quran reading is your private journey.
Sakinah ("tranquility" in Arabic) is developed and published by Abu Adam. This privacy policy describes how the Sakinah iOS application ("App") collects, uses, and protects your information.

We request "When In Use" location permission only. We do not track your location in the background. Your coordinates are cached locally on your device and sent to the Aladhan prayer times API (see Section 4) to calculate prayer schedules.

This data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage (iOS Keychain) for reading progress and standard local storage for preferences. If you have an account, aggregated reading statistics (total verses read, listening time) are synced to our cloud database.
If you use the AiNoor Islamic assistant feature, the messages you type are sent to an AI service to generate responses (see Section 4). Conversations are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. A maximum of three recent conversations are retained locally.

Sakinah uses the following third-party services to provide its features:
We use Firebase for user authentication, anonymous usage analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, and cloud data sync. Firebase is operated by Google and processes data under Google's privacy policy.
The AiNoor assistant sends your chat messages to OpenRouter, which routes them to the DeepSeek language model for generating Islamic guidance responses. Messages are sent over encrypted connections. We do not control data retention by these providers.
Your GPS coordinates and calculation preferences are sent to the Aladhan API to compute accurate prayer times. No personal identifiers are included in these requests.
Quran recitation audio is streamed from third-party content delivery networks including EveryAyah.com, Islamic.network, MP3Quran.net, and QuranicAudio.com. These services receive standard HTTP request data (IP address, requested file) when you play audio. No personal data is sent.
Tafsir (Quranic commentary) content is retrieved from the Quran.com API. Only the surah and verse numbers are sent. No personal data is included.
Sakinah is suitable for all ages as a Quran reading application. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require an account to function, and parental guidance is recommended for the AI chat feature.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or on this page. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
